About this retreat
Tucked deep within 10 private acres of the Allegan State Forest, Allegan Retreat is a modern log home made for slowing down. A private quarter-mile paved drive winds through the oaks to the cabin. There are no neighbors and no noise, just woods, wildlife, and a sky full of stars.
Inside, a river-stone fireplace anchors the vaulted great room, with a big sectional for movie nights and a farmhouse table for long dinners. The kitchen is fully stocked, right down to the espresso machine. Four bedrooms sleep eight, and the lower level adds a family room with a big TV and a kids' play area.
Outside is where the magic happens. Spend your mornings with coffee on the screened porch and your days on the trails: about five miles start right out the back door and lead all the way to the sand dunes. Wind down with axe throwing, the trampoline, or a game of basketball, then end the night around the fire pit. In winter, grab the cross-country skis and snowshoes.
